During the national Energy-Saving Publicity Week GIZ has jointly held an Eco-Driving Training with the Jiangsu Transport Administration Bureau from 17th June to 19th June 2013 in Wuxi Jiangsu Province. Jiangsu Province is a model region for Eco-Drive-Training in China. The aim of the so called TTT-Training (“Train the trainers”) is to spread the knowledge and experiences of eco-driving. Its 90 participants were selected trainers from 18 regions of the province, who were trained by two Swedish trainers from Scania in two sections. The theoretical part included topics such as driving behavior and climate change; factors for fuel consumption, general functioning of a lorry; and eco and safe-driving techniques. During the practical part participants applied the lessons learnt and tried them directly on the lorry. In general, it is estimated that at least a 5 to 10 percent reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions is achievable by using eco-driving techniques of drivers.
This training was a part of the project Low Carbon Mobility Management. It is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) jointly with Deutsche Telekom AG.
